Tuesday Day 885 Grocery Hauls and More

Once again, I haven’t posted in a week and I’m playing catch up. A few weeks ago, I was super good with my eating and avoided all processed carbs, white potatoes, and rice. While I had much less frequent bowel movements, I never felt heavy or backed up, and overall I felt great. The scale was dropping right along and everything was good.

Then the last week rolled around and I dropped the ball, ate whatever, and didn’t track at all. We are out a few times and had heavy meals at home, and in general I just screwed up. The result was I felt like crap. I had stomach pains on and off all week and I just felt off. It seems obvious to me that something in the mix of last week isn’t doing me any favors, and I’d be much better off without it, whatever it is.

Sunday I ate fairly well, sticking with animal proteins and lots of veggies and some fruits for snacking. There was also a Klondike bar in the mix, but while it’s definitely a carb bomb I should do without, it was with moderation and was a far cry from an entire bowl of ice cream or a big plate of pasta.

Monday I started off with fruit and cottage cheese and two cups of coffee. It was late in the day by the time I had that, so my next meal was dinner, which was a small chicken breast, salad with light dressing and more cottage cheese. I finished the day almost perfectly on target for Points and I feel good about that, though it was harder to stick to it because we had pool league Monday night and I really wanted a beer and a pretzel with cheese sauce while we were there. I didn’t though, and I had a good night playing, getting a 10, a 7, a 6, and not so good on my last game, a 1. Ouch! The last game I wasn’t even sure I was going to get a shot, and it was over fast. Still 24 out of 40 is pretty good for me and I really feel like I could have won my second and third games if I’d worked a little harder.

Earlier in the day I did all of my shopping, starting at Petsmart to get the girls a bag of kibble and a few cans of the good stuff, then heading to Micheal’s for some crafting supplies (some new clay colors, glaze, a paintbrush),  Lowe’s for a ceramic floor tile (for baking my clay on, and some sandpaper), and then off to Winco for groceries where I got almost everything on my list but forgot to buy packing tape to wrap up my package I needed to ship out. I ended up going out to Rite Aid for the tape, then to the post office to mail the package. I also signed up for the Dollar Shave Club which is a men’s subscription service for razors. For $6 a month I get a premium 4-blade razor and 4 cartridges. Men’s razors are so much better than women’s but so pricey. I figure I’ll give them a try and see how the quality is. I won’t be out much if they aren’t very good and people on Twitter say they are very good. It was a busy day, but a good one all in all.

Since Monday was my shopping day, I’ll lay out my grocery hauls now. I did have to go back to the store for a few things I forgot on Monday today, but it wasn’t much. Dinner tonight is cabbage soup and I forgot to buy an onion yesterday. Anyway, this is how my money vanishes like magic and I sit there wondering where it all went. That’s part of the reason why I do these run-downs in my posts- I can see it in plain English exactly where it all went. The totals below do not include the postage I spent mailing my package out. That came out of money paid by the buyer, so it doesn’t really count.

Obviously my goals for this week are simple – stay away from from the processed carbs, the white potatoes, and the rice. Sweet potatoes and beans are okay. I’m still on the fence about oatmeal but leaning towards a yes there. Also obviously, I want to make sure I am tracking everything and staying within my limits. Eating better foods still isn’t any good if I’m reading way to much of them, and I am still kind of holding out hope for reaching the 170′s before the month is out of possible. I don’t have any social plans this month except for pool league and I can stay on top of things there easy enough. I can drink water as easily as I could drink a beer, and I don’t need any snacks while we are there as I will have just had dinner, and if I really am hungry, I can have an apple when I get home.

Not a lot else to say. My mom’s friend may be buying some jewelry from me again, which will be nice, and I’ve still got tons of stuff listed on eBay and would like to see 4 or 5 more things sell. I’m hoping to do some more with my polymer clay this week, but I haven’t decided what yet. Last night I had the idea of making tiny little pancakes, but I’ve got no idea how to go about it as of yet. :)
